The Village of Winfield, incorporated in 1921, is located in central DuPage County, which is ranked as one of the top growth areas in the Chicago metropolitan area. Currently, the Village relies on Lake Michigan to provide water to the community, and receives its gas from Nicor and electric from CommonWealth Edison. Plus, commuters are provided to and from Chicago’s Business District via the Metropolitan Rail “Metra’s” Union Pacific West Line. For those requiring air transportation, Winfield is located approximately 21 miles from O’Hare International Airport, approximately 20 miles from Midway Airport and only 5 miles from the DuPage County Airport. Finally, Winfield is also home to Central DuPage Hospital, which employs approximately 2,100 people.
