UICO to Celebrate Expansion with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Lisle, Illinois- The UICO, a thriving start-up company located in DuPage County, will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony at company’s Elmhurst headquarters and production facility on Friday, August 16, 2013. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm following a tour that begins at 1:15 pm. This ceremony will celebrate the expansion of UICO’s operations where they make their highly unique, iPad-like, touch screens and touch technology products for durable goods. UICO has more than doubled its number of employees to 42 in the past year, and its growth is encouraging more start-up companies in DuPage County. To drive further opportunity, UICO recently received equity capital from the state’s Invest Illinois Venture Fund. In 2007, UICO was launched by human machine interface experts and co-founders Bahar Wadia (a Crain’s 40 under 40 recipient in 2012) and William Lee. UICO has developed proprietary, patent-pending software and hardware, and is the manufacturer of its durable touch screens and touch surface technology for harsh and extreme environments. Durable goods companies engage UICO because their touch products work through pouring water and heavy gloves of nearly any sort, and in extreme temperatures. One of UICO’s customers is Rockton-based Taylor Company, which integrates UICO’s touchscreens into a smoothie machine for Oak Brook-based McDonald’s. Other customers use UICO’s touch products in extremely demanding applications including fishing boat instrumentation, oil refining controls, home appliances and an array of medical devices. Because of its technology advances, UICO is poised to grow tremendously as touch products are rapidly being integrated into durable goods. Please join us Friday, August 16 at 2:30 pm for the ribbon cutting ceremony at UICO’s offices in Elmhurst as we help to congratulate UICO on its success in Illinois.
