Letter to the Editor: Crain’s Chicago Business, Cloud Tax Gives Startups Sticker Shock in Chicago

Dear Editor, This letter is in response to John Pletz’s piece titled “Cloud tax gives startups sticker shock,” I’m pleased to avoid the chill in the air set by Chicago’s 5.25 percent cloud tax by choosing the warm and friendly business climate of DuPage County. Leaders in DuPage County have given us entrepreneurs abundant opportunities to expand our businesses without being burdened by excessive regulations and exorbitant taxes. Much like Chicago’s 1871 technology hub, the Choose DuPage Economic Development Alliance has created the Rev3 Innovation Center, which gives investors and entrepreneurs an environment to take their concepts from design to the marketplace. Through multiple resources and collaboration spaces, Rev3 provides companies and individuals alike with the ability to develop the technology of the future, but without Chicago’s additional taxes. We need government to support technology-driven businesses and the creation of high paying jobs, and DuPage County is leading the way. Sincerely,       John A. Carpenter President & CEO, Choose DuPage Phone: (630) 955-2089 jcarpenter@choosedupage.com John Carpenter serves as the President and CEO of Choose DuPage. Choose DuPage is the driving force for DuPage County economic development.
