Current Economic Environment in DuPage County

Presentations offered insight on future development projects, priorities and policies impacting the electrical trades in Chicagoland.

Job Growth in DuPage County

DuPage County experienced a 1% increase in job growth during 2014. Industry sectors with the most overall job growth:

  • Management: 8%
  • Real Estate: 6%
  • Administrative: 5%

Unemployment Rate

DuPage County has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the State of Illinois.

  • DuPage County: 5.3%
  • Chicago MSA: 6.4%
  • Illinois: 6.7%
  • United States: 5.5%

Sales Tax Receipts

DuPage County sales tax receipts rose 5.79% since December of 2013.

  • 2013, 4th quarter: $344,492,018
  • 2014, 4th quarter: $364,452,124

Regional Real Estate Market

Office vacancy dropped from 17% in the 4th quarter of 2014, to 16.8% in the first quarter of 2015.

Industrial vacancy rates rose slightly in the first quarter of 2015 to 5.7% from 5.6% in 2014.
