Aurora Public Library, Seize the Future Development Foundation, Announce RFP

Seize the Future Development Foundation, Aurora’s economic development public/private partnership, in conjunction with the Aurora Public Library, announces a request for proposals for the downtown library building located at 1 East Benton in historic downtown Aurora.“This building has been an anchor in the downtown community for over 100 years,” said David Hulseberg, president/CEO of Seize the Future Development Foundation. “We’d like to see a market driven adaptive reuse project that reflects the unique culture of the city and adds value to the community.”

“The current Main Library is a significant piece of Aurora history, and it would be great if someone has a use for it once we move to the new building,” said Daisy Porter-Reynolds, executive director of the Aurora Public Library. “I look forward to talking with potential developers about this site.”

The RFP can be found on Seize the Future’s website www.investinaurora.org. There will be a pre-bid meeting on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the downtown library. After the pre-bid meeting, developers and redevelopment groups will have until 4:00 pm on March 31, 2015 to submit proposals for redevelopment of the building. The proposals will be reviewed by Seize the Future staff and board members and the Aurora Public Library.
